Why Choose MAITT!

From all 3 of my interviews, I received the best welcome from Linzi at MAITT. I felt as soon as I left that it was the training academy, I wanted to do my teacher training with and was very happy when I got the call later that day.

I have met some amazing people who support each other on the course and the support from Linzi is so good, replying to constant of emails from me.
The Friday sessions are thorough and informative and not only are the tutor’s experts in their field, they offer so much support in other areas of the course which has allowed us all to meet our best potential.
Trainee (2020/21)
The chosen course through MAITT has provided me with a personalised approach to postgraduate teaching. Being able to build connections in your home school from day one and connecting to fellow students at the training base, made me believe that this course was the right one to start my path into the teaching world.

I have been a mentor with MAITT for two years, I have found the partnership between LJMU, MAITT and our school to be very supportive, organised and provide excellent advice and training for both mentors and trainees.

Professional Mentor-Rice Lane Primary School

“After completion of a PGDE at MAITT through the Schools Direct Initial Teacher Training Programme in 2014, I became a school based Mentor and have delivered CPD sessions for Trainee Teachers in 2017. Throughout the process, as both a Trainee myself and as a Student Mentor, the LJMU Tutors and MAITT staff have always created a supportive and welcoming approach to learning, which  helps create ‘Outstanding’ trainees. A Schools Direct Training Programme allows you to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to gain QTS with the added benefit of having a ‘home school’ that allows you to become part of the team from the first day of the course. Without hesitation, this is a quality programme that fully prepares trainees to reach their full potential.“

Trainee (2014/15)

The ITT programme at MAITT is great. All staff involved are supportive, informative, encouraging and approachable. Teaching and learning in this environment is great because staff are forth coming with advice and information and help you to develop and achieve your best. “

“The Subject Knowledge and Professional Study sessions that MAITT provide on a Friday are very helpful because not only do we learn information and policy integral to teaching from established teachers but in meeting regularly with other trainees we get to develop the strong support system that MAITT provides.”

“The recruitment process is very informative and beneficial because it prepares you for future interviews. The matching day is also beneficial because it allows you to meet with your potential schools, gaining further insight about the schools and their requirements and giving you a choice in the process.”

“This programme is great because it offers lots of information and resources from experienced professionals from their partnership schools”

Trainee (2015/16)

“The support from MAITT has been amazing. The programme is carefully put together to ensure your get all the training you need, not just to qualify but to become an exceptional teacher long term.”

Trainee (2018/19)

“The support received is fantastic! Not just academic but pastoral, there is a great community feel amongst the consortium. The ability to meet incredible teachers and create networks is priceless.”

Trainee (2018/19)

“The calibre of the trainees has been exceptional from the start; we have found the recruitment process and the matching days to be an excellent way of getting the right student for our school and making sure we are right for them. The support for mentors is comprehensive and the programme as a whole ensures students are trained and well-prepared for a career in teaching.”
