We have a wide selection of schools across Liverpool and Sefton offering outstanding provision across a diverse range of settings. Please read below for more information. Matthew Arnold Initial Teacher Training (MAITT) is the main primary ITT School Direct provider in Liverpool. In partnership with Liverpool John Moores, our Trainees complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Education with QTS. Most ITT courses offer a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Gaining a diploma on entry to the teaching profession shows that our Trainees are highly skilled professionals with a high level of academic rigour. Additionally, MAITT Trainees become NQTs with 120 credits towards their masters. Our Partner, LJMU offers a 60 credit module that NQTs can access. Through this partnership, our Trainees are able to acquire a Masters degree by the end of their NQT year. MAITT is in its sixth year of recruiting Trainees to the teaching profession and we are extremely proud to say that we have previously recruited outstanding Trainees through this route. Everyone in MAITT is committed to ensuring that the children in our care receive a fantastic school experience that motivates them to be life-long learners and to achieve their aspirations. This is evidenced in MAITT’s commitment to providing quality input for its Trainees. MAITT has a bespoke Training Centre. The centre is used for delivering professional development activities and subject knowledge sessions to our Trainees on Fridays during the training year. The MAITT training programme is designed so that Trainees have the opportunity to learn from, observe and work alongside teachers who have been judged as good or outstanding. This ensures our Trainees receive professional development which is current and highly quality assured. MAITT subscribes to Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) Mentor Programme which offers accreditation for mentors in our partner schools. The mentor programme from LJMU is known national and internationally. The quality of this mentoring programme means that the MAITT Trainees have a high calibre of mentoring within the schools.
